SAW Foundation was pleased to welcome Mr. Michihiro Ishibashi, Member of the House of Councillors of Japan, who visited the Foundation together with representatives from BRCJ and JAMAHA. During the visit, Mrs. Aye Aye Mar and Mr. Ko Myo met with the delegation and presented SAW Foundation’s programmes supporting vulnerable children, women, young people, and Myanmar migrant communities along the Thai–Myanmar border. The delegation also met with young students from SAW’s HEP programme and had a friendly discussion about their experiences, challenges, and future aspirations.
Mr. Ishibashi expressed his commitment to raising greater awareness among the Government and people of Japan about the situation of young people from Myanmar. He also highlighted the importance of creating greater opportunities for education in Japan and strengthening humanitarian assistance for communities affected by the crisis in Myanmar.
The delegation then visited migrant communities in Phop Phra to learn more about the current situation and needs of migrant families. As part of the visit, they provided essential food assistance to 250 migrant households.
SAW Foundation sincerely appreciates Mr. Ishibashi and the accompanying organisations for their visit, solidarity, and commitment to supporting vulnerable Myanmar communities. Their engagement provides encouragement and hope for young people and families living along the Thai–Myanmar border.
