COMMUNITY HEALTH OUTREACH PROGRAM ( CHOP )
Since 2010, SAW Foundation has partnered with the University of Cincinnati to implement the Community Health Outreach Program (CHOP), a health education initiative supporting vulnerable migrant communities in Phop Phra District, where an estimated 300,000 migrants from Myanmar live and work. Students from the University of Cincinnati actively contribute to the program by organizing regular fundraising activities to help sustain its operations.
CHOP conducts monthly health education workshops across 14 targeted communities, engaging approximately 25–30 migrant participants per session. The workshops provide accurate, practical, and culturally appropriate information on key health topics, including seasonal diseases, family planning, safe and unsafe abortion, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and other essential primary healthcare issues.
The primary goal of CHOP is to improve the overall health and well-being of migrant communities by increasing access to reliable health information and resources. The program also creates a safe and supportive space where participants can openly discuss sensitive topics, seek guidance, and strengthen their knowledge—empowering them to lead healthier lives and build resilience communities
