SAW Foundation was honored to welcome Dr. Aunampai Passakchai, Director of Dhammajarinee Witthaya School (DWS), for a visit to learn more about the Foundation’s work, child protection mechanisms, and services for vulnerable children. During the visit, representatives from SAW Foundation shared information about the Foundation’s programs and initiatives supporting women, children, and young people from Myanmar.
Dr. Aunampai also visited SAW Foundation’s two shelters to gain a deeper understanding of the care and protection services provided to vulnerable populations. Dr. Aunampai introduced the background, mission, vision, and current activities of Dhammajarinee Witthaya School. Established in 1990 by Buddhist nuns, DWS is a faith-based educational institution dedicated to providing a safe boarding environment and quality education for vulnerable children affected by poverty, displacement, and other crises.
The school offers free education from kindergarten through Grade 12 under the Thai education system, with a strong focus on promoting educational opportunities for gi.rls. Approximately 95% of the students come from poor families, ethnic hill tribe communities, and other marginalized and vulnerable backgrounds.
Currently, more than 1,000 students are enrolled at DWS and receive free education and comprehensive support to help them build brighter futures. We sincerely thank Dr. Aunampai Passakchai for her visit and for the meaningful exchange of experiences and ideas. We look forward to future collaboration in promoting education, protection, and opportunities for vulnerable children and youth.
