MOBILE EDUCATION PROGRAM ( MEP )

The Mobile Education Program (MEP) was launched to address the urgent educational needs of displaced and migrant children in Phop Phra Province, Thailand. In this region , approximately 300,000 migrants live and work in low-paid agricultural sector , earning only 150–200 THB per day. Despite the presence of 64 Migrant Learning Centers (MLCs) in Tak District serving approximately 20,000 children, many families in remote agricultural communities remain unable to access these services.

A recent assessment conducted by SAW Foundation across 14 targeted communities identified over 2,000 children living in highly vulnerable conditions, with nearly 50% out of school due to poverty, lack of documentation, transportation barriers, and financial hardship of the family. SAW Foundation has opened two Mobile Education Programs to bring education directly to these underserved communities. The program currently provides primary education, Non-Formal Education (NFE), Thai language instruction, and child protection and well-being activities to 120 vulnerable migrant children, delivered by eight locally recruited teachers. Through this initiative, SAW Foundation directly helping children return to learning, reducing school dropout rates, strengthening child protection, and creating safer, more hopeful futures for migrant families along Thai–Myanmar border.
