SAW Foundation was delighted to welcome the WART team from Japan, together with Ms. Nan Mya Kay Khine and Japanese Manga artist Mr. Yoshinobu Duno, for an inspiring presentation and creative learning session with SAW students. The WART team, recipient of the 55th Japan Cartoon Association Award in 2025, introduced the WART Exhibition 2026, featuring artworks created by CDM students from Myanmar online schools, children from schools serving displaced communities in Myanmar, SAW students, and children from Oh Taw School in Phop Phra. They also shared messages of encouragement from exhibition visitors to children affected by the ongoing conflict in Myanmar. Mr. Yoshinobu Duno gave students a hands-on introduction to Japanese Manga drawing techniques, including character expressions, facial emotions, bird’s-eye-view mapping, and creative ways to communicate complex information through illustrations.
Students explored how happiness, sadness, anger, and excitement can be expressed through Manga characters, while also learning how visual storytelling can make complex subjects easier for people to understand. It was a meaningful and joyful opportunity for SAW students to learn, create, express themselves, and connect with Japanese art and culture.
